App comparison
Compare speech practice apps by the job they need to do
A useful comparison starts with the child’s goals, the clinician’s plan, and the family’s devices. SpeechLP, Speech Blubs, and Articulation Station provide different interfaces and workflows. No app is universally best, and a feature list does not establish treatment effectiveness.
Disclosure: this comparison was prepared by SpeechLP. Publisher descriptions checked on October 10, 2026. No hands-on comparative trial or outcome study has been performed for this page.
Compare the same criteria
| Criterion | SpeechLP | Speech Blubs | Articulation Station Hive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Publicly described emphasis | Articulation games, feedback, informal screener, practice reports | Peer video models, activity library, optional voice activation | Clinician-oriented articulation activities across multiple task levels |
| What to check first | Selected sound, word position, and caregiver workflow | Whether the chosen activity fits the child’s communication goal | Exact edition and membership features relevant to the clinician |
| Where another product may fit better | Compare before choosing; automatic feedback can be inaccurate | A child who responds to peer models may prefer this interface | A clinician seeking a broad set of structured articulation levels may prefer Hive’s published scope |
| Price comparison | Free download with in-app subscriptions; current offer required | Current purchase screen required; promotions may differ | Current membership screen required; do not substitute a classic-edition price |
| Evidence limit | Feature descriptions are not comparative efficacy evidence | Feature descriptions are not comparative efficacy evidence | Feature descriptions are not comparative efficacy evidence |
Make a decision with the child’s SLP
Identify the target before comparing game counts or store ratings. Check whether the relevant word position, task level, language, and device are supported. Ask how to respond to a difficult turn and what observations to bring back. A tool that suits one child or clinician may be unsuitable for another.
SpeechLP’s automatic feedback may be useful as practice context, but a clinician or caregiver should investigate disagreements rather than treating a score as an assessment. Speech Blubs’ published description offers a different entry point through peer modeling. Little Bee’s Hive page lists work from isolation through conversation, which is a reason to inspect its clinician workflow when that scope matters. These are descriptions, not rankings of clinical quality.
Check purchase terms and privacy before choosing
Before purchasing, check the exact storefront, edition, billing period, renewal price, trial eligibility, cancellation rules, and any promotion for each product. Compare recurring and one-time purchase models explicitly. Do not reuse an older classic-app price for a current membership. Verify each product’s current privacy policy, recording behavior, retention, and sharing controls independently. This page does not compare audio retention or privacy protections across products; feature descriptions alone do not establish those facts.
A hands-on comparison would need to use the same task on each product and document what was observed. This page compares described features, not accuracy, speed, safety, or clinical effectiveness. The sources cited here do not establish one app’s superiority on those measures. Publisher endorsements do not substitute for an independent comparison.
