# Star Catcher a speech therapy game for kids

Star Catcher is a night-sky game. A word card crosses the field below an alien cat's UFO, and your child beams it up by saying the word. It suits children who like space, aliens, and a calmer pace.

Star Catcher uses the same target sounds and word list as every SpeechLP game.

- Sounds **24 sounds + 49 blends** 24 consonant sounds, including R, S, L, TH, SH, CH and K, plus 49 starting and ending blends such as BL, ST and STR. Parents choose the targets, SpeechLP can suggest them by age, or an SLP can assign them.
- Word position **Start, middle, end** Practice the sound at the start, middle, or end of a word.
- Level **Single words** Single words with pictures, from about 1,460 illustrated words.
- Ages **3 to 9** Designed for children ages 3 to 9.

**Feedback:** SpeechLP listens to each attempt and responds in the game. The practice report afterward lists the words and the app's feedback. It is not a diagnosis or a clinical score.

## Keep practicing off screen: Flashlight beam

Tape picture cards to a wall in a dim room. Your child shines a flashlight on a card and says the word to beam it up, then collects it.

Ask your child's speech-language pathologist which words to use. More ideas: [speech therapy games to play at home](https://speechlp.com/speech-therapy-games-for-kids/#at-home).
