## Therapist FAQ

Common implementation questions from clinic and school teams.

[Open SpeechTherapist](https://speechtherapist.app/)

**How does SpeechLP work with my clients?**

Through SpeechTherapist.app, you can invite a client's caregiver and assign home practice aligned to that child's selected speech-sound targets, so practice continues between sessions. Assessment, target selection, treatment planning, and clinical decisions stay with you.

**Can I see how a client is progressing between sessions?**

Yes. Once a client's caregiver accepts your SpeechTherapist.app invitation and the child begins their assigned home practice, you can review that client's practice activity, completion, and performance estimates, giving you a view into carryover between sessions. These are practice data: interpret them alongside your own observations and clinical judgment, as they don't independently establish clinical progress.

**Is client and family data secure?**

Yes. SpeechLP is HIPAA and COPPA compliant. Speech recognition runs entirely on the child’s device, and SpeechLP never uploads, stores, or shares a child’s voice or video; neither do any of our vendors or partners. SpeechLP saves only practice results (word attempted, sounds recognized, correct or not, timestamp). Access is limited to you and the connected caregiver, and we do not sell personal or child data. Please review our [Privacy Policy](https://speechlp.com/privacy-policy/) and your organization's requirements before use.

**How accurate is the speech recognition?**

SpeechLP provides real-time feedback and app-generated performance estimates during supported activities. These are practice data, not validated diagnostic scores, and shouldn't replace transcription, direct observation, or formal assessment. We're continuously refining the recognition, and feedback from SLPs using it with real clients directly shapes what we improve next. If something seems off, we want to hear about it.

**Is it okay for a child to use SpeechLP at home without my direct guidance?**

Families already use flashcards, workbooks, and practice apps with their kids without direct supervision, and SpeechLP fits that same category. It's a practice and screening support tool, not a treatment or diagnostic service, so it doesn't step into clinical decision-making or replace your role. When a child is in therapy, families should follow your individualized recommendations.
